TheMorning have an exclusive interview with Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC’s midfielder, Kim Namgun, about his life and football career in Cambodia. Want to know the detail? Read the following.


-TheMorning: What was your first impression after landing in the Kingdom of Cambodia?
-Kim Namgun: I was so surprised that the weather is extremely hot and humid. And I was so impressed that there’re a lot of motorcycles on the roads.
-TheMorning: What are the places in Cambodia you have visited since your arrival?
-Kim Namgun: I’ve been to Sihanuk Ville with my family, and the beach is so nice to play because water is so clean.
-TheMorning: Have you tasted Khmer Foods yet? If you have, what do you think about the foods? How often do you eat Khmer foods?
-Kim Namgun: When I go to Svayrieng Stadium, I always have beef and fried rice. Those are not too bad.
-TheMorning: Do you usually cook or eat out?
-Kim Namgun: I sometimes go out to eat with my friends, and sometimes I cook at home.
-TheMorning: Where in Phnom Penh do you usually hang out in your free time?
-Kim Namgun: I am looking around Aeon Mall with Korean players who belong to Cambodia’s clubs.
-TheMorning: What do you think about the weather in Cambodia? Have you been accustomed with it yet?
-Kim Namgun: The weather is too hot and humid. I can’t get used to this weather. I always turn on the AC at home.
-TheMorning: Can you speak any Khmer words now?
-Kim Namgun: I can only use a few things [words] that are still wrong but really easy.
-TheMorning: What is the most challenging in your football career?
-Kim Namgun: It’s to go to a better team and do good work.
-TheMorning: If you were able to be one of the most famous footballers in the world, who would you choose yourself to be?
-Kim Namgun: The role model is Diego Ribas who played in Brazil. At the age of 14, he went to see the Santos’ game directly. At the age of 19, he started to play the role model in the big stadium.
-TheMorning: Do you think your club [Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC] can win the league title this season?
-Kim Namgun: Of course, I think we can win. We are the top team in the first half [of the season]. We have a lot of good players in our team, and I think that’s enough for us to be able to win in the second half.
