We have an exclusive interview with Boeung Ket FC’s defensive midfielder, Mizuno Hikaru, regarding his life and football career in Cambodia.


-TheMorning: What was your first impression after landing in the Kingdom of Cambodia?
-Mizuno Hikaru: I feel it’s so hot here, and there are so many motorbikes.
-TheMorning: What are the places in Cambodia you have visited since your arrival?
-Mizuno Hikaru: Aeon Mall
-TheMorning: Have you tasted Khmer Foods yet? If you have, what do you think about the foods? How often do you eat Khmer foods?
-Mizuno Hikaru: Yes, I like Khmer foods, but I usually eat Japanese foods. When I have training camp with our team, I usually eat Khmer foods.
-TheMorning: Do you usually cook or eat out?
-Mizuno Hikaru: Usually, my wife cooks Japanese foods for me.
-TheMorning: Where in Phnom Penh do you usually hang out in your free time?
-Mizuno Hikaru: Aeon Mall, Brown Coffee, Amazon, and swimming pool.
-TheMorning: What do you think about the weather in Cambodia? Have you been accustomed with it yet?
-Mizuno Hikaru: It’s too hot if compared to Japan. When I lived in Cambodia in the first month, I was so tired and didn’t want to go out. Hahaha.
-TheMorning: Can you speak any Khmer words now?
-Mizuno Hikaru: Yes tik tik [a little bit].
-TheMorning: What is the most challenging in your football career?
-Mizuno Hikaru: The most challenging is still to come year by year. Not yet very challenging.
-TheMorning: If you were able to be one of the most famous footballers in the world? Who would you choose yourself to be?
-Mizuno Hikaru: Javier Mascherano
-TheMorning: Do you think your club can win the league title this season?
-Mizuno Hikaru: Yes, of course. We will try our best to get the title.
